Influence of Fuel Subsidy Removal on Business Educators’ Job Satisfaction in South-West Colleges of Education, Nigeria

Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the influence of fuel subsidy removal on business educators’ job satisfaction in South-west Colleges of Education in Nigeria. The survey research type was adopted for the study. The study comprises two research objectives and two research questions. Two research hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study comprises 219 Business Education lecturers in the twelve Colleges of Education offering Business Education in South-west, Nigeria. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire titled “Fuel Subsidy Removal on Business Educators’ Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (FSRBEJSQ).” The instrument was validated by experts and the reliability of the instrument was tested and statistically analysed using the Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient estimates, which ranged from 0.86 to 0.94. Descriptive statistics were used to answer research questions, and research hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results of the findings revealed that provision of palliatives and ensuring fair payment and rewards during fuel subsidy removal era influence business educators’ job satisfaction among others. It was concluded that provision of palliatives to business educators, fair payment and rewards during fuel subsidy removal era enhance their job satisfaction among others.
